You shouldn't. As long as your criticism is grounded it's fine, right? We don't need to be on the same page every time. Other perspectives make you grow.
I enjoy these posts. I wasn't aware that we could submit photos ourselves! I'll endeavour to send one of mine in the next day or two. For me, it would be a shame if it were to disappear.
I love it. Participating feels like belonging to a club of like-minded peers and the insights shared offer a lot of learning opportunities for newbies like myself.
I really like these posts and was very pleased when you decided to start them up again. I’ve already submitted twice and will happily submit again if PhotoTalk continues.
Id like to share this with my first-year photography students. I assign them to create a self portrait. To understand how it feels to have a camera pointed at you in hopes they’ll approach photographing others with more intention and respect.
My stipulation is they have to be alone and press the shutter themselves. It’s 5e alone part, though; the forced introspection. I arrived at this assignment when teaching documentary photography. Thank you!
I do like it but haven't been participating in anything Substack related, other than my own post, this past month. Life has just been too crazy! I am trying to catch up with everyone now. Generally though, I would hope that you can keep going with this.
I’m into it Marcel. Shame to see it go. I’m guilty of not always participating due to other commitments but think it’s a great idea.
I just subscribed about a week ago, but I assumed you had a backlog of submissions. I will submit one if my own tomorrow!
I'm a little embarrassed to say how much I enjoy critiquing people's work.

Please continue, Marcel. I am learning from other people's photographs and the discussions.

Great. Like to hear how that works out. Curious.
It just now occurred to me that my profile photo was shot by one of my Photojournalism students!
